v1.1
April 2026Whiteboard Workflow Update
Screen Annotations 1.1 turns whiteboard mode into a much more complete workspace. This release adds a real board gallery, tabbed whiteboards, new content blocks like sticky notes, editable tables, and rich link cards, plus a long list of toolbar and editing improvements across the app.
Whiteboard Gallery & Board Management
Whiteboards now live in an All Boards gallery instead of a flat single-board flow.
- Grid and list views for browsing boards
- Multi-select with single click, Command-click, and Shift range selection
- Custom categories with collapsible sections for organizing boards
- Batch actions for delete and category assignment, with delete confirmation
- Board context menu actions for open, open in new tab, save as, and export preview PNG
- Improved rename behavior with commit on first outside click
Tabbed Whiteboard Workflow
You can now use the board list as the first tab in a whiteboard window, then open multiple boards beside it.
- Double-click still opens a board normally
- Open in New Tab keeps the gallery in the same tab group
- Multiple boards can stay open side by side in tabs while you switch between them
Sticky Notes
Sticky notes are now first-class canvas items instead of something you have to fake with shapes and text boxes.
- Insert sticky notes directly from the toolbar
- Edit note text inline on the canvas
- Change note fill color in the inspector
- Change sticky note text color independently
Editable Tables
Tables now behave like editable whiteboard objects rather than static boxes.
- Insert tables directly from the toolbar
- Edit text inside individual cells
- Add rows and columns from the context menu
- Autogrow cells for larger content
- Configure fill mode, background color, and text color independently
Link Cards
Whiteboards now support rich link objects with preview cards.
- Insert a URL from the toolbar
- Render a preview card with site title, host name, and preview image or icon when available
- Double-click to open the link
- Open, edit, or refresh the preview from the context menu
Toolbar & Editing Polish
- Attached whiteboard toolbar now matches detached mode much more closely
- Responsive overflow returns when the window is too small
- Toolbar captions now show keyboard shortcuts in the visible label
- Fill controls only appear for shapes that actually support fill
- Selection and rename flows now commit or clear on the first outside click
- Board selection UI no longer shifts the grid downward when the action bar appears
Rendering & Inspector Improvements
- Sticky notes and tables keep a stable text size while editing
- Link card text and footer layout render more cleanly
- Color pickers and popovers align correctly with the toolbar
- Inspector controls now cover sticky note color, sticky note text color, table fill, and table text color
Screen Annotation Toolbar
Annotate Screen mode now shows a smaller, more focused toolset rather than the full whiteboard toolbar.
Privacy Note
Link previews use macOS link metadata APIs and only fetch preview metadata when you explicitly insert or refresh a link card.
Requirements
macOS 15.0 (Sequoia) or later.
