iCloud sync between Mac and iPad
Whiteboards sync automatically when Screen Annotations 1.8 or later is installed on both devices. If a board isn't showing up on the other device:
- Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on.
- Check that sync is on: Settings → Whiteboard → iCloud Sync on Mac, or Settings → iCloud from the board gallery on iPad. The status line shows the last sync time or what's wrong.
- On Mac, press Sync Now. On iPad, switch away from the app and back.
- If your iCloud storage is full, the status line will say so; free up space in iCloud settings.
If the same board is edited on both devices at once, the most recent version is kept and the other one is saved in that board's History, so nothing is lost.
Live sync from iPad to Mac
With version 2.0.0 or later on both devices, what you draw on your iPad appears on your Mac as you draw it. If it doesn't:
- Keep a board or design window open on the Mac. Live sync starts when one is open.
- Use the same Apple Account on both devices, with iCloud sync on. Live sync follows the iCloud sync setting.
- Allow Local Network for Screen Annotations: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network on Mac, and Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network on iPad.
- Keep Wi-Fi on for both. They connect on the same network, or directly to each other when they aren't on one.
Without live sync, iCloud still brings your changes over, just not as you draw.
