Settings Quality & Trust

Screen Annotations 1.4 focuses on Settings quality and trust. The Settings window now uses a stable left sidebar, every tab is reachable from a full-row click target, and panes no longer blink or shift when selected. This release also validates stored settings before use, applies several options live to the active annotation session, keeps the whiteboard background popover stable while changing patterns, fixes local AI setup copy, and adds Lumary Labs branding to About.

Settings Sidebar Redesign

Settings now uses a vertical sidebar on the left side of the window.

  • Persistent left column replaces the previous top tab strip
  • Full-row click target so the entire tab row is clickable, not just the label text
  • No blink or jump when selecting a tab — the tab list stays stable
  • Stable window layout so navigation feels predictable across panes
  • Polished About section with centered Lumary Labs branding

Settings Validation and Live Updates

Settings are now normalized before the app uses them, and several options apply immediately.

  • Stored drawing defaults are clamped to supported ranges before they are loaded
  • Backward-compatible validation for color palette indexes, whiteboard, cursor highlight, spotlight, laser, and legacy keystroke values
  • Drawing defaults apply live to the current annotation session
  • Whiteboard toolbar placement updates live when the embedded-toolbar setting changes
  • Cursor click animation changes apply to the active cursor highlight session
  • Shortcut recording rejects unusable shortcuts, reserved keys, and duplicate assignments

Whiteboard Popover Polish

The Board popover in the whiteboard toolbar now stays open while changing board appearance.

  • Pattern switching is seamless — Blank, Dots, Grid, and Lines no longer close and reopen the popover
  • Stable layout when the spacing control is enabled or disabled
  • No unnecessary redraws when re-selecting the current pattern or background color

Local AI Setup Copy

The AI setup instructions in Settings are now more accurate.

  • Claude Code uses the correct local HTTP MCP command
  • Claude Desktop and Codex snippets share values so the displayed server URL stays consistent
  • ChatGPT setup text clarifies that ChatGPT supports remote MCP apps and cannot connect directly to this localhost server

About Branding

The About pane now includes the Lumary Labs LLC logo as an app asset.

  • SVG logo asset with a transparent background
  • Cleaner About card with the logo centered inside
  • Removed duplicate "Made by" text
