Alignment Guides & Toolbar Polish

Screen Annotations 1.5 adds live alignment guides and spacing measurements for manual whiteboard layout, and reorganizes the whiteboard toolbar for clarity and consistency. Moving shapes now surfaces subtle guide lines when the selection lines up with nearby content, with point-based distance labels along the active guide. The toolbar is narrower at rest, stays consistent across editing contexts, and Board History is more reliable while managing snapshots.

Alignment Guides

Moving shapes on a whiteboard now surfaces live guides when the selection lines up with nearby content.

  • Horizontal and vertical guide lines appear when a moving selection aligns with nearby shapes
  • Center, edge, and matching line positions are detected with snap-to-alignment within tolerance
  • Subtle neutral styling — guides clear automatically when the move ends
  • Alignment Guides toggle in annotation settings, enabled by default and persisted alongside other annotation settings

Spacing Measurements

Active guides now carry point-based distance labels so you can see gaps as you move.

  • Point-based distance labels along the active guide
  • Multiple adjacent labels when several shapes are aligned along the same guide
  • Visible outer spans crossed by the guide are used for accurate lane and grouped measurements
  • Arrows, lines, freehand strokes, laser marks, and tool placeholders are ignored as spacing references

Toolbar Reorganization

The whiteboard toolbar is narrower at rest and groups related actions for clarity.

  • File menu consolidates Open, Save, and Export into a single dropdown
  • Show More overflow is organized into labeled sections: Tools, Style, Arrange, Insert, Canvas, Present, File, and Edit
  • Board popover polished with consistent uppercase section labels, a dropped trailing divider, and a fixed-size layout

Consistent Toolbar With Scene Manager

Opening the Scene Manager no longer collapses the toolbar.

  • Color, line width, and insert buttons stay visible when the Scene Manager is open
  • Presentation toolbar only activates during an actual scene presentation
  • Scene Manager button still highlights while the window is open

Escape Key in Whiteboards

Escape no longer closes the whiteboard when nothing is in progress.

  • Cancels an in-progress drawing or clears the current selection
  • No-op in whiteboard mode with nothing active, so the workspace is not lost
  • Screen-annotation mode behavior is unchanged

Board History Reliability

Managing snapshots no longer flickers or dismisses the Board History popover.

  • Snapshot deletion no longer flickers the popover
  • History button is a self-contained subview so the popover survives badge updates
  • Snapshot deletes run on the next main-loop tick so the row menu can close cleanly
  • Clear All action at the bottom of the Board History popover with confirmation; existing scenes are unaffected
